Lecture by Rev. Father Nicolaos H. Kotsis
St. Nicholas Church
Monday, October 3, 2005
7pm, Kuenzel Room, Michigan Union
The lecture will focus on theological differences between Orthodoxy and Roman Catholicism, cultural and historical realities, and lasting legacies. It will touch on some of the differences in theology between the two churches, which helped forge different cultural attitudes between eastern and western Christendom. Events in history and their consequences, both political and cultural, as they relate to the two churches, will be intertwined with the discussion on theology. Finally, ramifications of the schism in the current state of affairs between the churches and in the political world of Eastern Europe as well as considerations for the possibility of reunification will be touched upon. After the lecture, there will be time for questions and discussion.
