Jan Afonso

Jan Afonso – BA in Spanish from Wake Forest University, MA in Spanish and Portuguese Linguistics and Pedagogy, and PhD in Higher Education from the University of Arizona (Dissertation: A Statistical Index Measuring the International Dimension in Research Universities). Eight years as Spanish and Portuguese GSI and lecturer. Research Associate for UA Latino student retention studies, assessment consultant to academic departments. Experience abroad: medical work in Colombia and Nicaragua; study abroad in Colombia; Rotary Ambassadorial Graduate Scholar in Brazil, 2 years living in Japan. Jan was an LSA general advisor ‘94-97, OIP study abroad advisor for Spain and Latin America ‘03-06, and returned to LSA advising in summer 2006. She serves on the International Student Committee and assists with study abroad issues. Jan is a concert harpist, but considers herself “mediocre, at best” on the instrument. UM SD 8/03



Cindy Barhyte


Cynthia Barhyte – BA in Human Development/Health Education, K-12 Teaching Certificate in Health and Physical Education. Two years School of Natural Resources Student Services; over three years teaching in China at university level; three years as elementary and one year as high school teacher; four years as a Public Health Program Assistant; LSA Academic Advisor, specializing in international students, since April 1992. Michel Bordeau


Michel Bordeau – BA in French & English from The University of Montevallo (AL), MA in French Studies from The Ohio State University (OH), ABD in Francophone Studies from The University of Michigan. Five year of teaching experience as French TA. Currently serving on International Student Committee. Member of MAFSA & NAFSA. Author of Poire sucrée, salée, épicée (2002) and upcoming Nicoline et Perle, Perle ou Nicoline. UM SD 1/1/99.



David Brawn


David M. Brawn – Received his BA (with Highest Honors in Anthropology) from the University of North Carolina. Completed his MA and PhD in Cultural Anthropology at the University of Michigan. His doctoral dissertation fieldwork was done in Bone, Indonesia under the auspices of a Fulbright-Hays fellowship, but upon its completion he moved into applied research in the area of Medical Anthropology. David has taught Anthropology at the University of Michigan and Albion College and worked as a Project Director at Wayne State University. He has also served as a regular member of a grant review study group at the National Institutes of Health. In addition to these things, David also plays something approximating soccer for Things Fall Apart, an indoor soccer team in the Comedy Bracket of a local O-40 Men’s League and softball for the Nematodes, one of Ann Arbor’s oldest excuses for wearing polyester pants. Cathy Conway-Perrin


Cathleen Conway-Perrin – BA in Elementary and Bilingual Education from Michigan State University, MA in Spanish, also from MSU. Thirteen years teaching experience: Spanish at the university level, math and science at the middle school level, bilingual teacher in Guatemala, Los Angeles and East Lansing. Joined LSA Student Academic Affairs in the spring of 1995. Associate Director of the Advising Center 2002-2006. Director of Academic Standards and Academic Opportunities since April, 2006.

Active in the following University-wide organizations: Women of Color Task Force, Diversity Council, President’s Advisory Commission on Women’s Issues. UM SD 4/8/91.

 



Carmela Brown


Carmela Brown – BA in Psychology from Shippensburg University (PA); M.Ed. in Counselor Education from the University of Virginia. Academic advisor in the Department of Political Science and a Career Development Specialist in the College of Social Science at Michigan State University '92-99. She joined LSA Student Academic Affairs August 1999 as a general advisor. Active as a member of the first year student committee and the adult learner committee. She currently serves as Coordinator for Transfer Students Issues. She works as a team member with Admissions and Financial Aid to increase the community college transfer student population at UM through a Jack Kent Cooke Foundation grant. Enjoys reading, scrapbooking, and cake decorating. UM SD 7/19/99.



Timothy Dodd


Tim Dodd — Received his BA (Communications) and MA (Political Science) from Fordham University and is ABD (Political Science) at the University of Pittsburgh. Prior to arriving as the Director of the LSA Academic Advising Center in July, 2007, Tim served as the Executive Director of The Center for Academic Integrity at Duke University. He was a member of the Center’s Board of Directors for three years and served as its president prior to assuming the duties of Executive Director. More germane to his work at LSA, Tim previously served as the Associate Dean for Undergraduate Studies at Case Western Reserve University for 8 ½ years where he directed the major department advising program, advised students on curricular and policy matters, certified all undergraduate degrees, held membership on numerous academic affairs and student affairs committees, and served as the faculty representative for the Truman and Udall Scholarship programs. Prior to his tenure at Case, Tim served five years as Associate Dean of Academic Advising at Gettysburg College and spent two years as Director of Academic Resources and Advisement at St. Lawrence University. At both institutions, he directed the advising program, advised students, and served on the academic standing and petitions and exceptions committees. Tim taught political science and first year seminars at the University of Pittsburgh, St. Lawrence and Gettysburg and also worked as an academic adviser in the College of Arts and Sciences Undergraduate Advising Center and in the University Honors College at Pittsburgh. Tim is a native New Yorker, passionate baseball fan, ardent devotee of the performing arts, a great audience for stand-up and improv comedy, and a hiking and running enthusiast. And he eats the same thing for breakfast every day of his life. UM SD 7/2/07.



Susan Doyle


Susan Doyle – MS degree in finance (WMU), and a PhD in American Literature (UMass Amherst). She came to us from Michigan State University, where she had been an instructor in the American Thought and Language program. She has taught courses in American literature, English composition, and technical writing. Her specialty is African-American literature during the American Progressive period. At UMass she served as Special Assistant to the Dean of Students; she also worked in a previous life as a financial consultant and analyst, and a technical writer. She joined LSA Student Academic Affairs June 1999 as a pre-business advisor. She currently serves as Coordinator of Outreach Programs. UM SD 6/21/99.



Margaret Elias


Margaret Elias — B.A. in Psychology, MSW. Four years as a program director at Project Community; five years as a social worker with adolescents and families in day treatment and residential programs; four years as a Teacher/Director in a nursery school; one year as a TA in Psychology. She joined LSA Academic Advising in 1995. UM SD 7/23/90.



Dan Freidus


Dan Freidus — BA in Biology (Amherst College), MS & PhD in Biology (University of Michigan). New Yorker by birth, New Englander by choice, Michigander by chance. Science Editor of “Dissertation Abstracts” database, UMI (Proquest). Lecturer in Biology, Eastern Michigan University. Marketing Director for mail-order industrial supply company. Visiting Curator for “History of Money” exhibit currently at the Federal Reserve Bank of New York. Consultant for museums and auction houses on early American coins and paper money. Serves on MSU-Washtenaw County Extension Advisory Council. Experience in web development, especially information architecture and usability. Field Hockey goalie (UM FH club team). UM SD 5/14/98.



Louise Wicks Freymann


Louise Freymann — BA and MA in English. Two years as a private high school instructor; one year as an Editorial Assistant with a publishing firm; one year as an instructor at what is now the Sweetland Writing Center; twelfth year as English concentration advisor; sixteenth year as general Academic Advisor. Since September 1999, Coordinator of Academic Programs in LSA Advising Center, with responsibility for creating ongoing communication and conversation among LSA academic departments and LSA general advisors. Most recent area of strong interest: enhancing internal (SAA) communication so all staff can not only have easier access to helpful information, but can also be more fully aware of the interesting work/questions/issues that engage their colleagues throughout the year. Begoņa Garcia


Begoña Garcia — BA in Education from the Universidad Catolica Andres Bello, Caracas, Venezuela, MA and PhD in Educational Psychology from the University of Michigan. Extensive teaching experience at university level in areas of Teacher Education. Former positions at UM include: Joint appointment for six years as Project Coordinator for FAIRteach (Faculty and staff Against Institutional Racism) and Lecturer/Co-Director of the LSA GSI Teaching Development Program. More than three years as Education and Training Coordinator for the UM Sexual Harassment Policy Office. Currently, LSA General Academic Advisor and Academic Standards Board Member. Liaison to the Department of Romance Languages and Literature (RLL), as well as the Latin America and Caribbean Studies Program (LASC). Member of the following committees: International Student, First Year Student and Public Relations. UM SD 3/18/02.



Susan Gass


Susan Gass — BA in French and Art History from Swarthmore; MA in French Literature from University of Michigan; PhD candidate in French Literature. Fulbright to teach English in France. Twelve years teaching experience as French TA, high school teacher at Friends School in Baltimore and Detroit Country Day. Leader of high school trips to France. Extensive experience with international students and study abroad programs. Former chair of Michigan Association of Foreign Student Affairs. Former advisor for UM Office of International Programs. Before that she was an overseas opportunity advisor in the International Center. Susan has been a full-time SAA general advisor since July 1999. During the fall of 1999 and 2000, Susan also taught introductory French at the Residential College. She is still active in the study abroad field, in particular in regards to women's issues abroad. Member of the Foreign Language Waiver Committee and the First-Year Committee. Susan supervises the Peer Academic Advising Office and co-coordinates the summer academic peer advisors. She is also the Coordinator for First-Year Advising Issues. UM SD 9/7/95.

 

 



Robert W. Gordon


Robert Gordon — Rob has been an Academic Advisor since 1998. He grew up in Kalamazoo and Grand Ledge and has lived in Michigan his whole life. After barely surviving high school, Rob completed a BA in U.S. History, Siena Heights University. He then attended graduate school at Wayne State University, where he received his MA and PhD in U.S. History. While at Wayne, Rob worked as a Teaching Assistant, Research Assistant, Adjunct Lecturer and helped form a union for graduate teaching assistants. Rob also holds office hours at Mosher-Jordan Residence Hall and is the Co-Chair of the Advising Center’s First Year Committee. Outside of the University – Rob is a huge baseball fan and for the past year has worked as a minor league analyst for an internet website – www.baseballhq.com/. UM SD 11/16/98.



Philip J. Gorman

Philip J. Gorman — BA in Natural Science, University of Pennsylvania; MA and PhD candidate in Classical Studies, University of Michigan. Former positions include: Program Manager in the LSA Dean’s Office for Undergraduate Education and Academic Affairs; member of the M-Pathways Student Administration implementation team; LSA Academic Advisor for five years; several years teaching experience at high school and college level in Latin, Classical Civilization, and Great Books. Associate Director of the Advising Center 1998-2006. Director of Advising Technology since 2006. UM SD 9/1/87.

 

 



Robyn Hampton


Robyn Hampton — BA in Sociology from Princeton University; MA in Sociology from the University of Michigan; PhD candidate in Sociology at the University of Michigan. As a graduate student instructor, Robyn taught in several UM departments: American Culture, CAAS, Sociology, and Women’s Studies. Prior to joining LSA Academic Advising in 2006, she was a research associate in the UM’s Center for Research on Learning and Teaching (CRLT). Robyn’s experiences at CRLT helped to foster her interest in student engagement, interdisciplinary studies, assessment issues, and the retention of undergraduates in STEM fields. Currently, she is a general academic advisor who serves on the Sophomore Initiatives Committee and the Assessment Committee. UM SD 6/01



Jeffery D. Harrold


Jeffery Harrold — BA in Economics from the University of Michigan. MDiv. from Trinity Evangelical Divinity School, Deerfield, Ill. Past work experience include five years experience in Computer Operations, including work as an Operations Technical Analyst, Director of Minority Student Development at Trinity College in Deerfield Ill., and as a Life Insurance Agent and Financial Planner. Jeff has also served as a pastor and church planter since 1982 and is currently the pastor of New Beginnings Free Methodist Church in Ann Arbor. Jeff has served as an Academic Standards Board Member, 1988-1991, 1994-present and as an academic advisor, 1989-1991, 1995-Present. Currently Chair of the Quantitative Reasoning sub-committee. He is a member of the University Diversity Counsel, past president of the UM Association of Black Professionals, Administrators, Faculty and Staff, a volunteer with the Washtenaw County Jail and Hope Medical clinic, and is certified in Social Justice Mediation. UM SD 6/1/94.



Joe Henderson


Joe Henderson — Joe earned his BA degree in 1987, in French and Political Science, at Utah State University. After earning his JD degree at the University of Pennsylvania, where he served as Associate Editor, and then Editor, of the University of Pennsylvania Law Review, Joe spent three years working in Philadelphia as a full-time attorney. During this time, he litigated numerous business disputes, labor and employment cases, and securities fraud class actions. Joe returned to academia in 1993, working as a Graduate Student Instructor in French at The University of Michigan and earning an MA degree in French Literature. Since then, he has worked as a freelance French tutor and translator and, since 1998, as a general academic advisor and pre-law advisor. Joe is a member of the Northeast Association of Pre-Law Advisors (NAPLA). In his spare time, Joe usually can be found cooking, taking pictures, reading, writing, playing with his family’s cats, tinkering with his home computer, watching excessive amounts of TV, or teaching Sunday school. Clara Kawanishi


Clara Kawanishi — BA in Sociology, Yale University, and MA in American Culture, University of Michigan. Three years as a Graduate Student Instructor in American Culture, English, and Women’s Studies. Four years as an American Culture steward to the Graduate Employees Organization. Ten years as a rape crisis intervention volunteer counselor and advocate. Four years in museum administration and fundraising. Currently a general academic advisor, member of the First-Year and the International Student Committees, and working on Transfer Student issues. UM SD 7/21/03.

 

 



Martha Kirpes


Martha Kirpes — BS in Civil Engineering with second major in Environmental Studies (Honors Program) from Iowa State University, MA in International Development from Clark University, PhD in Natural Resources and Environment from University of Michigan. Over three years as GSI, one year on Pilot Program staff; five years as Baits Houses Resident Director for International Students and three years on SNRE Graduate Admissions Team. Coordinates residence hall academic advising and Summer Orientation academic peer advising. Has co-facilitated Psych 405 “Social Justice in Community Settings,” and UC 170 “World, Community and Self: Intercultural Competence for the 21st Century” at UM. Ongoing research on global climate change impacts on wildlife in Asia, environmental justice and natural hazards, earthquake reconstruction, environment and development in India, and environmental education. UM SD 1/4/99.



Chalmers H. Knight


Chalmers Knight — BA and MA in Philosophy. TF and Adjunct Lecturer in Philosophy. Taught Great Books and First Year Seminars. LSA Honors Program advisory and CULS (Comprehensive Studies Program) advising supervisor. Coordinator of academic advising programs. Standards Board chair of Race & Ethnicity and Foreign Language sub-committees. Extensive experience as Honors and LSA General Advisory, currently specializing in BGS students and joint LSA engineering students. UM SD 9/75

 

 

 



Jean Leverich


Jean Leverich — BA in English with Psychology minor, Hamilton College, NY; MA in American and British Literature (with emphasis on teaching writing), Georgetown University; PhD in English Literature and MSW, both at the University of Michigan. Nine years experience teaching writing and literature at Georgetown, New York University School of Continuing Education, and the University of Michigan; one year teaching Psych 211 (Exploring Careers). Having worked as an LSA Academic Advisor from 1996-99, Jean returned to Advising in 2003 after practicing clinical social work with at-risk youth and their families. Jean has received the Ruth M. Sinclair Award for Excellence in Academic Advising. She chairs the Sophomore Initiative Committee, is a member of the Academic Standards Board, and works closely with the Career Center to help students make connections between their liberal arts education and career exploration. Jean is the liaison to the Psychology and LSA Music departments. She also serves on the Junior/Senior Services Committee and has drop-in advising hours in South Quad. When not advising students, Jean sings alto in the University Musical Society Choral Union and has been known to dabble in community theater. She has also volunteered extensively at Safe House. Ask her how to get involved in social justice and the arts on campus. UM SD 12/11/96.



Chris Luebbe


Chris Luebbe — BA, MA in Comparative Literature, Johns Hopkins University; PhD in Comparative Literature, University of Michigan. DAAD Fellow in Regensburg, Germany. Ten years teaching experience at the University of Michigan and Hillsdale College, including courses in Comparative Literature, Great Books, Intro Comp, Italian language, Italian literature and culture, a First-Year Seminar, and the first UC course approved for R&E. Two years experience as Comparative Literature graduate and concentration advisor. General academic advisor since November 2002. Currently serving as liaison to Comparative Literature and the English Language Institute, co-chair of the International Student Committee, and member of the First-Year Committee, Jr/Sr Committee, and R&E sub-committee. UM SD 1/91



Marty McClatchey


Marty McClatchey — BS in Special Education and MSW, University of Michigan. K-12 Permanent Michigan Teaching Certificate. Two years Title I Project Director. Twenty years in field of adoption and foster care (ten in private specialized agency, ten years as consultant for State Department of Social Services). Two years teaching at UM and University of Georgia School of Social Work Post Graduate Program. Thirteen years as a part time Academic Advisor. Past Academic Standards Board member. Currently serving on Foreign Language Waiver sub-committee International committee and mentor to several students. UM SD 6/3/91.



Toni Morales


Toni Morales — MSW, MA in American Culture, ABD in English.  Six years as a TA/Lecturer in English; two summers as an ESL writing instructor; one year as a social work intern at U-M Outpatient Psychiatry; one year (1996-1997) as Inteflex Advisor; eleventh year in the office. Prior to working full-time in the Advising Office, interviewed and diagnosed participants in a depression study for the UM Medical School Department of Family Practice and volunteered as a clinical social worker in the UMH Psychiatric ER. Became full-time in the office September 1997 and became advisor for the ICP Organizational Studies program. After that program moved to its own department, Toni began to advise BGS students. She became a permanent Academic Standards Board member September 2003. Has chaired a number of committees, and has initiated and continues to coordinate the Mental Health Networkers, a cross-campus group of academic advisors and academic student services personnel. She has taken the lead in developing office guidelines for working with distressed students and developing mental health resource materials for advisors. She is the liaison to CAPS, and serves on the Office of Financial Aid review committee, Depression Conference Planning Committee and the SAPAC Advisory Committee. Outside interests include the study of religions, cooking, creative writing, reading biographies of writers and artists, petting strange dogs and cats, and collecting old home economics texts and cookbooks. Amy Muldoon


Amy Muldoon — received her BA in Professional Writing (minor in Environmental Science) from Miami University in Oxford, Ohio and her MA in English from the University of Toledo where her focus was writing and reading theory.  She has worked as a writing specialist in the Writers Lab at Bowling Green State University, taught writing and composition at the University of Toledo and, for six years, was the Assistant Director of the Learning Enhancement Center at the University of Toledo.  She worked as Assistant to the Dean in the School of Social Work here at the U.

 

 



Mary Alice Parker


Mary Alice Parker — BA from University of Southern Mississippi, MA from University of Michigan, PhD candidate in American Culture, King/Chavez/Parks Dissertation Fellow. Assistant Professor in History at the University of Toledo. Former part-time LSA Academic Advisor. Published in American Culture, Cross-Cultural and Afro-American. New Hope Baptist Church Historian, Ann Arbor. UM SD 5/14/98.



Marsha Pumroy


Marsha Pumroy — BA in Education, University of Michigan; MSW, University of Michigan. Four years as clinical social worker with survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault at the Assault Crisis Center; four years as nursery school director/teacher at University of Michigan; four years as health educator at the Ann Arbor Free People’s Clinic, a community clinic serving low income people; two years as teaching assistant in Psychology and Women’s Studies in experiential learning classes. Fifth year as member of Metameeters Committee, which plans staff meetings and staff development. Member of work group that developed office guidelines for working with depressed students. Virginia J. Reese


Virginia Reese ̶ BS in History and Library Science from Millersville State University, Pennsylvania; AMLS, UM. Two years Adjunct Lecturer, University of Michigan School of Information Science. Director of the UM Residence Hall Library System for 12 years; designed and implemented the resident library. Coordinator of Residence Hall Academic Advising for 10 years. Associate Director of LSA Academic Advising Center since 4/1/89. Interests include Victorian novels, shape-note music, American folklore and Chinese and Japanese film as well as American films from the 30’s. UM SD 8/18/68.



David R. Smith


David R. Smith - A former drummer in the Flint Scottish Pipe Band, he earned a PhD in History from Wayne State University in Detroit, Michigan. He is a past recipient of a Fulbright Scholarship, the Ruth M. Sinclair Award for Excellence in Advising, was once an elected official of the PTA for John F. Kennedy Elementary School in Ferndale, Michigan, and recently received the Albert B. Corey Prize for the best book on US-Canadian Relations from the American Historical Association. In addition to serving as the Academic Advisor for the Individual Concentration Program, he occasionally teaches for the History Department here at the University of Michigan. In 2005 and 2006 he led small groups of students to Viet Nam as a part of the Global Intercultural Experience for Undergraduates (GIEU) program. Among his favorite concerts are a solo, acoustic show by Neil Young at the Lansing Civic Center in the early 1980s, the North Mississippi All-Stars at the Blind Pig in Ann Arbor (which left Dr. Gordon deaf for several days), and all of the nearly 30 Bob Dylan shows that he's caught at various venues across North America. He lives in Ferndale with his wife, daughter, dog, and fish. Like Dylan says, "He not busy being born, is busy dying." UM SD 9/1/96.

 

 



John Stratman


John Stratman — BS English, Indiana State University; MA English, Indiana University; ABD Doctor of Arts in Rhetoric, University of Michigan. Combined ten years teaching experience as Graduate Instructor and Lecturer for UM Department of English (Introductory Composition, Argumentative Writing, English Methods, the English Professional Semester), Sweetland Writing Center (English Practicum, Writing Workshop) and the School of Education (Cohort teacher and field supervisor in Secondary Education, Master of Arts with Certification Program). Past recipient of Outstanding GSI Award and the Ruth M. Sinclair Award for Excellence in Advising. Joined SAA in 1997 as general advisor; also advises on behalf of the Joint Degree Program in LSA and Engineering and the Academic Standards Board. Chair of Library Committee and Liaison to Linguistics and the Residential College. Five years experience teaching English at Mater Dei High School, Evansville, Indiana. Lead singer and harmonica player for rock/blues band, The Clinch. Kicks it around whenever the guys can get back to Evansville. UM SD 9/1/87.



Ching-Yune Sylvester


Ching-Yune Sylvester - BA Cognitive Science and Psychology, University of Virginia, MA and PhD Psychology, University of California, Berkeley. Joined the Advising Center in November of 2004, after serving as a Lecturer in the Psychology dept. and also as a Research Associate supervising student research projects. She has conducted research on memory and attention using functional MRI and has worked with patients with focal brain damage. Ching-Yune has taught courses in cognitive science, psychology, and functional neuroimaging. She has also devoted time working on issues related to women in science and engineering. UM SD 9/1/00



Susan TePaske-King


Susan TePaske-King – BA in Psychology, Stanford University; MA and PhD candidate in History of Art, University of Michigan. While a Fellow of the American Academy in Rome, Susan pursued dissertation research in Sicily, but would not endorse Gela as the hotspot it was in the days of Aeschylus. While in the States, Susan lives in the wild TePaske-Kingdom with a bear, dog and cat; swims daily but slowly (it would take her a mere 49 hours to complete Michael Phelps’ one-day work out); enjoys gardening, jazz, sewing and UM hockey (just ask the season ticket holder who sits in front of her); and advises students pursuing the Bachelor of General Studies degree. She has been a GSI in History of Art, Great Books, and upper-level writing courses. She is a past recipient of the Ruth M. Sinclair Award for Excellence in Advising and the Stanford Men’s Soccer Fan of the Year. UM SD 9/21/86



Erin Trame


Erin Trame— received her BA in Botany from the University of Michigan.  Upon graduation, she worked for short time for a private tree company in Ann Arbor before coming back to the University to work as a horticulturist.  While working with her student crews as a horticulturist, Erin realized how much she enjoyed teaching the students about the different flora found on campus.  Erin then earned a secondary teaching certificate in biology and chemistry from Eastern Michigan University and a MS in Science Education from Montana State University.  She spent seven years as a high school biology instructor and academic advisor at Washtenaw Technical Middle College before returning to her alma mater once again in her current capacity.  Many times as a teacher, Erin would break out into song to help her students learn a concept, and she is known to do the same thing when inspired during her advising sessions with students.  Unfortunately for her audience, Erin is neither a good singer nor someone who recalls the correct lyrics to a song.



Karen Wittkopp

Karen Wittkopp — BS in Education with K-12 Permanent Teaching Certification from Northern Michigan University. MA in Guidance and Counseling awarded from Oakland University. Four years work in residence hall, two as residence hall director-Winterfest Champions 1975. Four years teaching experience in Port Huron Public Schools/Class A, Physical Education and individual/team coaching-1978 State Champion in both the 1 and 2 mile. Since 1979, employed with the University in Student Service positions at the UM-Dearborn; Student Activities, Orientation, Counseling, Admissions, and Director of Academic Advising in the College of Arts, Sciences, and Letters for eight years. In 1992, I came out to Ann Arbor as a minority recruiter and advisor in the College of Pharmacy. Currently, coordinate the Pre-Law Program for the University and serve as the Chief Pre-Law Advisor and a general advisor. In the State of Michigan Licensed as a Professional Counselor (LPC). Assisted in a Law School Admissions Counsel Grant acting as the UM liaison for a four-year longitudinal study on UM Undergraduate Career Attitudes, 1998-2003. Twenty year NACADA member and a NACADA presenter 1986-2003. Won Best in Region Presentation 2001. NAPLA member and presenter. MAPLA member. Katrina Relief work 2005-2006, Spannocchia Garden Project worker 2004 and 2006. UM SD 8/13/79.



Peggy Zitek


Peggy Zitek — PhD in Pathology, University of Wisconsin – Madison and BS in Mathematics, Chemistry from Southwestern at Memphis. Tutor/teacher for students with different approaches to learning: 37 years. Medical education consultant for 16 years: taught MCAT, National Boards, and Specialty Board review courses. Coauthor of the Study Guide and Instructor’s Manual for Organic Chemistry: Structure and Reactivity, 4th and 5th editions. Currently pre-health professions and general academic advisor. Member of the QR sub-committee. UM SD 09/01/86.
