Resources
Resources for German Language and German Studies Hartmut Rastalsky’s "Resources for German Students and Teachers"
Public-Domain Images for German Studies Various members of the Department have assembled a large number of images that we hope will be useful to students and faculty alike. All are in the public domain, and thus may be used freely for educational purposes. The large, searchable database we envision is still under construction, but we plan to add individual images to these pages steadily meanwhile.
Scholarly Research
The Goethe Institute Collection at U of M’s Language Resource Center This extraordinary resource includes the entire collection of the former Goethe-Institut Ann Arbor, which it kindly donated to U of M when it closed in 1999. The collection is now fully catalogued and searchable online. It also circulates: local patrons may view the collection and check out items in person, and the LRC is also willing to ship items to users throughout the Upper Midwest.
Midwest Office of CDS International at the University of Michigan
The Turkish-German Studies Group Michigan hosts the biannual German Film Institute (2004 and 2006). This event brings together eminent scholars in the field of German Film Studies for a week-long seminar of screenings and intensive discussions. This year's Institute is devoted to the topic of "Unknown Weimar II: International Connections." Screenings will be open to the public.
