My interests are focused on the intersection of two fields of study: literature and information science, specifically archives and memory. I am especially interested in the ways in which those in the literary field position themselves in relation to others, and the ways in which the literary field can be viewed from the perspective of power and authority. How do works become legitimate - even authoritative - and how does this status affect public perception and collective memory of an author and his or her career? In my research, I plan to examine and analyze the process by which works and authors are presented to the world, and the ways in which this presentation affects the reception, study, and memory of those authors. Currently I am working on a project examining the construction of authors' "complete works" (zenshu) from the late 19th and early 20th centuries.
